AAMGA University to Unveil On-Line Learning Management System
AAMGA recently launched the new AAMGA Web site with a number of improvements to its functioning, efficiency and information – including a master calendar and on-line access to registration materials for educational courses and events. In the next few months, the University plans to unveil yet another addition to the association’s on-line services – the Learning Management System.
The Learning Management System is an on-line tool that allows AAMGA members to manage and track their own professional education - all in one place. “It’s a one-stop shop,” says Jeff D. Henry, director of education and professional development. Everything to do with education will be available on-line, in one site. “Members will be able to see everything at a quick glance,” Henry explains. “What classes are being offered [by the University], public classes open to all members, classes that we can put on for them [at their locations] if they are interested.” The on-line system will allow members to view University classes in a variety of ways, including: by class, by course topic, by position, and by calendar date.
Another feature of the Learning Management System is that it allows members to keep track of their course history. “They’ll be able to sign up for [classes], and they’ll be able to keep track of them on-line, as well as their license requirements on an on-going basis,” says Henry.
Henry also anticipates that AAMGA and the University will be offering a bigger selection of on-line classes, for which members would be able to self-register through the Learning Management System. “As we move toward implementation of the Learning Management System, we are looking for a wider range of on-line classes, not just related to our specific segment of the market, but other classes, like HR [human resources], career coaching, management and computer classes -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Classes that apply to every facet of the industry.”
Members will access the Learning Management System through a link on the AAMGA Web site.
Henry and his staff are hard at work readying the Learning Management System, and he expects it to launch sometime in the next few months. “We have a lot of opportunities and information to input,” he says.
